An international recession sparked a huge shift in the 1990s, and a mix of new fashion aesthetics emerged – from simple minimalism and grunge girls to the 2000s wanderlust of Destiny's Child.

The story of fashion after the stock market crash of 1989, when designers began to sober up from the excesses of the 1980s, is being told in an upcoming Disney+ documentary.

The trailer for In Vogue: The 90s has just been released, showcasing just how influential this decade was for fashion, culture and identity.

“The 1990s revolutionised the fashion industry,” says former editor-in-chief of British Vogue magazine, Edward Enninful.

The documentary, which premieres on September 13, tells the twisted story of fashion and fame through the eyes of Vogue editors Anna Wintour, Edward Enninful, Hamish Bowles and Tonne Goodman.

Joined by icons of the decade including Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Elizabeth Hurley and more, the documentary explores fashion, film and politics, while crossing borders both creatively and internationally, exploring the rise and globalization of American fashion.

From Hollywood and hip hop to the Met Gala, the six-part series focuses on the decade’s defining moments. Featuring characters ranging from John Galliano and Sarah Jessica Parker to Kim Kardashian and Hillary Clinton, the series promises to offer an unprecedented look at a dizzying decade of style and substance.

Volume I (episodes 1–3) of In Vogue: The 90s launches exclusively on Disney+ on September 13, ahead of Volume II (episodes 4–6) on September 20.
