Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh has announced that she has requested to remove her father's surname from the… Los Angeles Times.
Two months after the daughter of the former Hollywood couple petitioned to remove “Pitt” from her last name, the 18-year-old announced in the newspaper that she had gone through the next step in California’s name-changing process. Under California law, one must publish the legal name-changing forms in a newspaper advertisement for one month, and once published, the request will appear in the legal notices section of the paper; only then can a judge approve a name-changing petition.
In the announcement, she revealed that she was requesting a name change to “Shiloh Jolie,” dropping her father’s last name entirely. TMZShiloh's papers were filed on her 18th birthday, May 27.
Sources close to Pitt have reportedly claimed that the Oscar winner is “aware and upset” by the name change request.
“He is aware and upset that Shiloh stopped using his last name,” the source said. People“Of course, it’s not easy for Brad to remember that he lost his children. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”
A source close to the family revealed that the actor has “virtually no contact” with his adult children, including Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, and Shiloh, but still has visitation with his younger children, twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.
“She has virtually no contact with her adult children. Her involvement with the younger ones has been more limited in recent months due to her filming schedule,” the source said, adding that the estranged couple’s custody agreement allows visitation rights to their children who are still minors.[Angelina] “He has the children most of the time, but under their agreement, he has the right to visit the younger children.”
It's worth noting that Shiloh isn't the first to publicly give up her father's last name, as many of the Brangelina family members chose to use their mother's surname. Program for the new musical The outsidersthat Eternal actor produced with the help of Vivienne, People confirmed that the youngest daughter was listed as “Vivienne Jolie” rather than “Vivienne Jolie-Pitt.”
In a video shared by Essence Last November, the former couple's eldest daughter, Zahara, introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” as she joined the Mu Pi chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at her college, Spelman College. She was seen dancing alongside her fellow sorority members before introducing herself: “My name is Zahara Marley Jolie. And [I] “I landed from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California.”
