Alexander “AE” Edwards has given his fans an update on his relationship with music legend Cher.
In an interview with TMZ, the 38-year-old music executive gave insight into the 78-year-old pop icon days after a physical altercation with Travis Scott at a party on May 23 at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. When asked if the Oscar winner had any problem with his role in the fight, Edwards responded, “Hell no.”
He then quoted lyrics from the song “GTA” by Future and Metro Boomin, emphasizing that there is no trouble in paradise. “As Future says, 'Whatever I'm into, my b***h is into it,'” he said. However, after some thought, he backtracked by calling Cher a dirty word and added, “Woman mine, but the letter is the letter.”
Despite noticing that everything was going well between them, he dispelled any “wedding bells” rumors. He clarified that, however, love is still in the air: “Yes brother, listen, we are happy. We are a happy family.”
The couple previously fueled engagement rumors when Cher tweeted a photo showing a diamond ring Edwards bought her. But the Oscar winner dispelled the speculation and said she only posted the photo to show off her cool nails.
The couple has been romantically linked since late 2022 and were spotted in November holding hands while taking a walk in Los Angeles with rapper Tyga. They first met at Paris Fashion Week in September of that year.
“It was really shocking, because people just don't give out my number,” she said, noting that a mutual friend gave her number to Edwards. “I had been telling all my friends, 'We're too old to date really younger men and I'll never fall in love over text.' So I did what I said not to do!
Cher understands that their 40-year age difference has drawn attention. She said People in October 2023, “Alexander has diamond teeth, tattoos, white hair and is much younger. He is a beautiful man.”
They were last photographed together at the 2024 amfAR Gala in Cannes before Edwards and Scott fell out later that night. They had donned matching all-black looks on the red carpet, showing each other off with little moments of PDA.
Days earlier, the couple celebrated the pop star's 78th birthday on May 20 at the romantic Chateau Romanov. she gushed MY! News that the place was “fabulous” and added that he had an “incredible” experience. She noted that her boyfriend “was very kind as a host.”
Cher was previously married to the late Sonny Bono and Gregg Allman and has dated several men younger than her in the past, including actors Val Kilmer, 63, and Tom Cruise, 60. Meanwhile, Edwards shares her son Slash, three years old, with the model. Ámbar Rosa, 39 years old.
