About 740,000 sets of kitchen pans sold at Costco, Walmart and Amazon are recalled due to burn risk

About 740,000 sets of kitchen pans sold at Costco, Walmart and Amazon have been recalled over fears that consumers could burn themselves on the product.

Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue stainless steel frying pans were recalled on Thursday.

In announcing the recall, the Consumer Product Safety Commission warned that the metal cap on the screw that connects the pan to the handle can come off and “forcefully eject” when heated. The commission said this can cause burns to the consumer.

New York-based Mishan & Sons, Inc., which imports the saucepans, has received nearly 100 reports of the lid breaking off and flying from the saucepan. One of those incidents caused the consumer to suffer bruises and burns.

The recalled saucepans came in a two-piece set with a 10-inch saucepan and an 11.5-inch saucepan. They were sold in Costco stores and online, including Costco, Walmart and Amazon websites from August 2021 through last February.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission advises consumers with recalled frying pans to stop using them immediately and return them for a full refund.

CCCEI Power Strips sold on Amazon were recalled last week after the company behind the recall, China-based retailer Middle Way Electronics, received at least two reports that the product was “sparking and melting,” according to the commission's recall notice.

As of the date of the recall, no fires or injuries were reported. But the commission warned that the power strips do not contain “additional overcurrent protection,” which can cause the product to catch fire if overloaded.

“The resulting fire can cause serious injury or death from smoke inhalation and burns,” the commission said.

The recall notice advised consumers to immediately stop using the power strips and contact Middle Way Electronics for a full refund.
