A woman has shared the hilarious results of her recent flower order.
Sarah Hollingsworth took to TikTok to share what she received after ordering a bouquet of poppies over the phone. According to the woman, the plan was to take the flowers to an exhibition in San Diego, California.
“I said I wanted some poppy flowers, since that's the name of my business, but also the California flower,” she said, referencing her baby registry company called Poppylist, according to Fox News.
Due to her schedule, she could not pick the flowers herself and asked her parents to do it. She was surprised to receive not a bouquet of poppies, but flowers in the shape of puppies. “At first I thought these weren't poppies,” she said.
Hollingsworth added: “I took the wrapping off and then I saw those strange bulging eyes and I thought, 'What are those doing there?'”
After realizing she had been given puppy flowers, she told the outlet she was “crying with laughter” and thought the mishap was “hilarious.”
Then the business owner remembered the conversation she had on the phone while placing the order and realized there were some signs that perhaps they hadn't understood what she was ordering.
And he added: “It's fun to remember it because I remember [the clerk] asking me how many I wanted, which seemed strange to me.”
Hollingsworth said she remembered questioning the worker over the phone, but eventually told her, “I'm not sure, I'd guess two.”
Two was exactly the number of puppies that ended up in their bouquet. Even though it wasn't what he had originally ordered, Hollingsworth said he loved the creativity of the puppy's design so much that he kept it and brought that bouquet to the event.
“It acted as the perfect icebreaker at our booth,” he said.
Hollingsworth later posted about the incident on her company's TikTok page while showing off the bouquet of puppies with text on the screen that read, “You guys. I placed a flower arrangement over the phone, ordered POPPIES and got PUPPIES.”
The clip received over four million views and many people left comments about how funny the mix-up was.
“Honestly, I wouldn't even mind this confusion. “It’s very cute and they did a good job,” wrote one commenter. “Though I'd still need poppies for Memorial Day.”
Another commenter agreed, writing, “Well, that's way cuter than poppies.”
“Umm, it's not a lie. If I ordered poppies and got puppies, that's a major improvement and I win!” a third person in the comments agreed.
Accidental mishaps like this may have been the reason why one couple decided to grow their own wedding flowers instead of buying them.
In a viral video posted to TikTok, Tennessee couple Taylor and Jeff Weikel revealed how they got flowers for their July 2023 wedding on a budget. The clip, which has received 2.9 million views since it was shared this week, showed the couple documenting their gardening process.
Set to Beyoncé's “Texas Hold 'Em,” Taylor and Jeff filmed themselves growing flowers in their backyard for their upcoming nuptials. “Brides of 2024: Here's your sign to plant and grow your own wedding flowers,” Taylor wrote in the clip.
The process began with images of Taylor planting seeds in small trays of soil, before transferring the trays outdoors. Her now husband could be seen plowing a field to make way for her new garden, while they distributed the seeds in open holes along a strip of land.
The Knoxville couple covered the seeds evenly across the patch of grass and soon green stems began to sprout. Taylor documented pink, orange, red and yellow flowers blooming in his garden. Once the flowers had bloomed, the bride cut the stems and transferred her flowers to vases to make a vibrant bouquet.
