A New Way to Listen to the Amp (Plus 5 More Songs with Whistle)

Since we started The Amplifier, gasp, almost a year ago, there's one question I've been asked over and over (and over): “When will you start putting your playlists on Apple Music?” If you're one of those many people who asked, I have great news: that day has finally arrived.

Starting today's Amplifier, we'll be including links to stream our playlists with Spotify either apple music, plus YouTube links to individual songs. And while I'm at it, I'll answer some of our other frequently asked questions to make sure you can hear the music.

Where do I find the new Amplifier playlist every Tuesday and Friday?

There's a master playlist on both Spotify and now Apple Music that we fill with new songs every time we ship a new amp. So you can always click there and find the latest edition.

How can I listen to an older Amplifier playlist?

We also archive all of our old playlists on streaming services. You can find them by accessing the New York Times account page on Spotify or Apple Music. (We've added the 10 most recent Amplifier playlists to our Apple Music account page and will continue to archive the older ones over the coming weeks.) If you want to read a previous submission and can't find it in your inbox, they are all on the Times website, too.

What happens if I don't subscribe to Spotify or Apple Music?

Don't worry! Spotify features a free, ad-supported tier that lets you listen to playlists once you create an account. Apple Music also offers a one-month free trial. Also, as always, we'll continue to post YouTube links to every song we mention.

Well, admittedly this isn't a general FAQ about amplifiers, but many of you asked anyway! To test out our new Apple Music option, and since so many of you had suggestions for your favorite whistle songs, I thought I'd post a sort of deluxe edition of Tuesday's playlist, now with five bonus tracks.

Enjoy and check back next week when we'll have some fun Grammy-themed playlists to get you ready for this year's ceremony, which takes place on February 4.

The future is in the air, I can feel it everywhere.
