White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has been diagnosed with “early-stage breast cancer” but remains committed to her job while receiving treatment, President Donald Trump revealed Monday.

Wiles, 68, “has decided to take on this challenge IMMEDIATELY, rather than wait,” Trump said in a Truth Social post revealing the diagnosis.

He has an “excellent” prognosis and will spend “virtually full time in the White House,” Trump said in the post.

“Her Strength and Commitment to continue doing the job she loves, and does so well, while undergoing treatment, tells you everything you need to know about her,” he said.

The White House did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for additional information about Wiles.

He appeared alongside Trump at the White House on Monday afternoon, during a meeting of the board of directors of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The board, which features Trump appointees including Wiles, had met to vote on plans to close the center for renovations starting July 6, The New York Times reported.

Trump said at the event that Wiles is dealing with a “minor difficulty” and reiterated that he will address it “immediately.”

Wiles, in an X post later on Monday, said he received his diagnosis last week and confirmed he will continue to serve in the White House.

“Nearly one in eight women in America will face this diagnosis. Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks,” Wiles said in the post.

“I'm grateful to have a great team of doctors who caught the cancer early and are guiding my care, and I'm encouraged by a very good prognosis,” her post read.

Wiles oversaw Trump's winning 2024 presidential campaign and has had a major influence on his second administration.

Although he is often seen alongside Trump at public events, Wiles rarely speaks on camera or gives on-the-record interviews. However, he participated in a series of interviews in 2025 with Vanity Fair that revealed surprisingly blunt assessments of Trump and his top advisers.

He told the outlet, among other things, that Trump has “an alcoholic personality” and said he has taken legal “retaliation” against his enemies as president.

After the interviews were published in December, Trump said he supported Wiles and a number of senior administration officials jumped to his defense while attacking Vanity Fair. Wiles herself called the articles a “success.”
