Stories from the UN Archive: the Hollywood greats' campaign against malaria and polio


Following the International Day of Epidemic Preparedness, celebrated annually on December 27, we look at how two renowned actors helped the UN health agency in 1959.

A singing legend, Mr. Sinatra lent his golden voice to the WHO for a UN Radio story, which tells the story of two polio victims in Indonesia, and the big Hollywood lord, Mr. Robinson, went in search of the “killer” malaria in northern Lebanon and beyond.
