Apple On Thursday he announced a redesigned blood oxygen function for some Apple Watch users, after a one -year -old intellectual property dispute on capacity.
Apple said the redesigned function will reach Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10 and Apple Ultra 2 users on Thursday. The update was possible due to a recent customs decision of the United States, the company said.
In 2023, the International Trade Commission found that Apple's blood oxygen sensors violated Masimo's intellectual property, a medical technology company. Apple stopped the sale of some of its watches and began selling modified versions of the wearables without the blood oxygen function.
“Apple teams work tirelessly to create products and services that train users with health, well -being and security characteristics in the industry that are based on science and have privacy in the background,” said the company in a statement that announces the deployment of the function.
CNBC has communicated with Masimo to comment.
Users who do not currently have the function will be able to access it updating their iPhone to iOS 18.6.1 and their Apple Watch for Watchos 11.6.1, Apple said. Users can see their results in the respiratory section of the health application.
Apple has been pushing more deeply in medical care in recent years.
The company recently launched a sleep apnea detection function for Apple Watch users and auditory health characteristics for its Airpods headphones. In February, Apple launched its first great health study in five years.
