boeing CEO Dave Calhoun will face questions from the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations on Tuesday about quality control concerns and whistleblower allegations.

Boeing's best-selling plane, the 737 Max, has been a source of controversy since two deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019. Scrutiny on the company increased again after a door plug on one of its nearly new 737 Max planes exploded. during a Alaska Airlines flight in January.

After the incident, company whistleblower Sam Salehpour came forward and claimed that the aerospace company was putting excessive stress on aircraft joints, reducing some of the planes' useful life. Boeing denied the claims as “inaccurate.”

The subcommittee on Tuesday released new allegations from Boeing quality control investigator Sam Mohawk, who alleges the company lost track of parts that were damaged or did not meet specifications. Mohawk alleges that the missing parts were likely installed on planes at the Boeing plant in Washington, where the 737 Max models are manufactured.

The company announced in March that Calhoun will step down as CEO before the end of the year.
