Waitrose increases expansion with the first new supermarket for seven years

Waitrose has revealed plans to open its first full -size supermarket for seven years.

Matrix Group The John Lewis association said he agreed a billionaire agreement to expand the supermarket arm even more.

The new store is expected to open in Brabazon, a new city in North Bristol, in 2027.

The 30,000 square feet store, which is being developed in association with YTL developments, is ready to create around 150 jobs.

It will be the first full -line supermarket opening of the retailer since before the Covid pandemic, although it has expanded during the period through comfort and smaller franchise stores.

Waitrose will also open a new convenience store in the Arches in Bristol and recently opened franchisees with Welcome Break in Spaldwick, Cambridgeshire and Rotherham, and a convenience store in Southwick, West Sussex.

It will open two more welcome stores in Hickling, Leinteshire and Newark, Nottinghamshire, at the end of this summer.

The opening is part of the plans to invest £ 1 billion in new stores and improvements in 150 existing stores in the next three years.

“Brabazon is one of the new most exciting city districts in the United Kingdom, promoting the growth of one of the most vibrant and successful regional economies in the United Kingdom.

“The association with the developments of YTL in Brabazon underlines our ambition and the opportunity we believe we have to grow our reach.”

The store will be in Brabazon, a new neighborhood in Bristol built in the old filton airfield, where each concord was built from the United Kingdom.

Seb Leyn, director of Planning and Development of YTL, said: “The arrival of Waitrose in 2027 is not only great news for the prosperous community of new residents in Brabazon.

“It shows that this new district of the city is now firmly established as one of the most attractive destinations for both housing buyers and commercial investment in the southwest.”
