Hanoi, Vietnam, July 2, 2024, Chainwire
In the last two weeks of June, SubWallet announced support for the Kusama Bridge and Polkadot Bridge in its browser extension, followed by the integration of the Asset Conversion Platform into its web dashboard that enables the exchange between DOT, USDT, and USDC on the Polkadot Asset Hub network. These bridges and exchanges are important updates that expand the use cases of the Polkadot ecosystem, and SubWallet is the first to support them in a sleek UI with a simple user experience.
Polkadot expands ecosystem use cases
The second quarter of 2024 has seen many long-term developments in the Polkadot ecosystem that have moved into production and launch phases. Notable among them are the Polkadot Kusama Bridge and the Polkadot Ethereum Bridge, both of which have been in development for a few years.
Unlike most current bridges, which are centralized to some degree, Polkadot bridges are fully trustless and thus significantly reduce risks. For now, users can securely connect DOT and KSM between Polkadot Asset Hub and Kusama Asset Hub, and various tokens including WETH, and between Polkadot Asset Hub and Ethereum.
Another highlight of Q2 2024 is the asset conversion platform on Polkadot Asset Hub, which allows for swapping between assets registered on the network. Since its inception, Polkadot Asset Hub has been poised to become the liquidity hub for the entire ecosystem, and the launch of the asset conversion platform marks the first crucial step in making that vision a reality.
SubWallet improves Polkadot user experience
These updates are innovative and fundamental, and seem inaccessible to users without a clear UI and friendly user experience. That’s where SubWallet comes in. With 2.5 years of experience building an easy-to-use wallet for the Polkadot ecosystem across three platforms, including a browser extension, mobile app, and web dashboard with over 1.6 million downloads and over 800,000 active users and devices as of June 2024, SubWallet is the first wallet to integrate the two bridges and the Asset Hub exchange.
“As a proactive player in the Polkadot ecosystem, we closely monitor ecosystem updates and are always one of the quickest to provide support, if not the quickest. Polkadot has long been seen as user-unfriendly, and it is our responsibility as the first point of contact to change this belief. Bridging and sharing are crucial components of a thriving DeFi landscape that Polkadot is heading towards, and we want users to have the most seamless and easy experience with SubWallet.” — Hieu Dao, Co-Founder and CEO of SubWallet.
The bridge transfer feature is supported directly in the transfer and exchange function under the Exchange tab. Cross-chain transfer is built into the exchange process – if a user wants to exchange DOT for USDT on Polkadot Asset Hub but only holds DOT on Polkadot, SubWallet prompts the user to first transfer cross-chain from Polkadot to Polkadot Asset Hub and then perform the exchange. This built-in cross-chain feature also applies when users attempt to liquidly stake with SubWallet with DOT from the Polkadot Relay Chain. This way, users can easily try out new features in a familiar UI/UX without having to navigate a third-party app and learn a new flow from scratch.
The quick integration received massive support from the community. The official Polkadot X account reposted the announcements, followed by numerous KOLs making similar posts.
With a mission to onboard more users into the Polkadot ecosystem, SubWallet will continue to support new ecosystem upgrades as quickly as possible to give users a smooth user experience to try out these features. Follow them on X to stay updated!
