In a recent presentation, Hui highlighted multiple areas he believes Hong Kong authorities could focus on to gain development advantages. She cited areas such as green finance, family offices, virtual assets, etc. The Director of Financial Services believes that intensifying activities in these areas would allow investors from around the world to understand Hong Kong's main areas of development.

Meanwhile, Hui noted that about 80% of the more than 2,600 companies listed in Hong Kong are mainland companies. According to him, the mainland's economic growth in 2023 exceeded 5%, while Hong Kong's GDP growth reached 3.3% during the same period, confirming the region's improving economic momentum.

The director of Hong Kong's Treasury Office believes the administrative region needs to combine an effective government with an efficient market to attract foreign investment. According to him, Hong Kong authorities need to be strategic in which areas to focus on, thereby highlighting areas of opportunity for investors around the world.

Hong Kong Monetary Authority Governor Xu Zhengyu emphasized the increased need for “connectors” and “value-added providers” in the current context of growing global uncertainty. According to Zhengyu, implementing such adjustments would allow Hong Kong to play an “irreplaceable” role in the order of things.

Zhengyu acknowledged that Hong Kong has always been a good platform to serve the world with a highly internationalized model based on the rule of law. Therefore, people who want to raise capital or invest will always gather in Hong Kong.
