Detroit-Ram Trucks plans Stellantis-Maned brand.
The guarantee covers the engine, the transmission, the transfer box, the transmission axis, the differentials and the axes for 10 years or 100,000 miles, which happens first. Replaces the current guarantee of five or 60,000 miles of RAM, which is relatively standard for full -size trucks throughout the automotive industry.
The new guarantee occurs when vehicles, especially trucks, have become more expensive in recent years, which often results in a longer financing that extends far beyond the guarantees of the vehicles themselves.
“Eighty -five percent of truck buyers finance for seven years or more. They keep it for 12 years because everything has become more expensive,” said the CEO of Ram, Tim Kuniskis, during a media event. “But do you know what has not changed? No one has changed the guarantee. They are investing more and more money in their brand, but is not investing more money to protect them.”
Edmunds.com analysts report that 84 -month loans for new cars buyers reached a 19.8% historical maximum during the first quarter, while another 67.4% of the financial loans of new vehicles were between 60 and 75 months.

Kuniskis, who leads the brand's response plan after being discouraged in December, said he believes that the new offer will help retain current customers, attract new and potentially recover the former owners who may have left the brand in recent years.
“We believe that this will be a significant movement in the right direction,” said Kuniskis, whose brand has experienced a decrease in sales of approximately 38% since 2019 records will be the best guarantee of trucks in the business. “
Ford motor and General Motors' GMC and Chevrolet brands: the main full -size truck vendors ahead of Stellantis, as well as Toyota motor He currently offers limited motor train guarantees of five years or 60,000 miles in his full -size trucks with gasoline. Some diesel models offer higher guarantees.
Kuniskis said that the guarantee offer of 100,000 miles/10 years could extend beyond this year, waiting for acceptance and popularity among customers.
“If the reception is good, our total intention is to maintain after the end of the year,” Kuniskis told CNBC during a recent interview.
Offering longer -term guarantees can cost car manufacturers billions of dollars if mass produced vehicles end up having quality problems, but Kuniskis said the rewards exceeded the risks.
“The guarantees always have an inherent risk in them,” he said. “However, what we determine was that the customer's perceived value exceeds what our highest cost will be.”
Longer guarantees can also mean that customers maintain their vehicles for longer, which means less potential sales in the coming years.
The limited guarantee of the motor train is applicable to the original 2026 model-leear, trucks and trucks, including its chassis cab line. It includes retail purchases and leases to individuals and companies, and excludes fleet purchases, as well as its Ram Promaster electric truck.
A 10 -year/100,000 limited motor train guarantee is not unprecedented for the automotive industry. For example, the South Korean car manufacturer, KIA, offers it through its line of new vehicles.
