has signed a sponsorship deal with Lionel Messi's Inter Miami football club, making the protocol its global training partner.
With this new sponsorship, the Polkadot logo will appear on all IMCF first team training kits and will debut ahead of the club’s away match against Chicago Fire FC on August 31.
Players and coaching staff will wear Polkadot-branded training jerseys during official sessions at the Florida Blue Training Center in Miami, away from home and during pre-match warmups.
As a principal partner, Polkadot will engage with Inter Miami fans through interactive fan zones and digital campaigns.
The company will also enjoy branding opportunities at the training center and throughout Chase Stadium, with indoor and outdoor signage, as well as LED displays and other stadium visuals.
Chrissy Hill, Interim COO and COO of Parity Technologies, Polkadot’s primary technical contributor, said: “We are thrilled that the innovative Polkadot community is continuing its steadfast commitment to the future of entertainment with their sponsorship of Inter Miami. Knowing that this team of global soccer superstars will soon be wearing the brand we love and support on their jerseys is beyond exciting.”
Euan Warren, Vice President of Partnerships at Inter Miami, added: “Partnering with Polkadot as a global training partner is a natural fit for Inter Miami. Our shared vision for innovation makes this a collaboration that will resonate with our fans around the world.”
According to its recent treasury report, Polkadot allocated $87 million worth of DOT to various initiatives in the first six months of 2024.
Marketing and outreach activities accounted for the majority of spending, with more than $36 million allocated to advertising, events, meetings, conference planning and other initiatives.
Doubling the pace of the previous six months, these expenditures were justified by attracting new users, developers, and businesses to the Polkadot ecosystem.
After completing Polkadot 1.0 in July 2023, the blockchain community is now preparing for Polkadot 2.0, which is supported by advanced technologies such as Async Backing, Elastic Scaling, and Agile Coretime.
