“I'm not going to promote cryptocurrencies,” by U.Today

U.Today – Serial tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has participated in today’s X Takeover podcast, hosted by Tesla (NASDAQ:) Owners Silicon Valley’s account. The podcast was held on Musk’s social media platform X. Several active members of the DOGE Army have reposted parts of this video on the same app.

In that podcast, Musk answered a question about what he thinks now, and also about the YouTube videos where he was caught talking about Bitcoin two years ago.

Musk's opinion on Bitcoin and the promotion of cryptocurrencies

When asked to share his current opinion on the world's leading cryptocurrency, Musk replied that he thinks “bitcoin and maybe other cryptocurrencies have merit.” The tech mogul admitted that he has a soft spot for the original meme cryptocurrency, Dogecoin, because he likes “dogs and memes.”

Musk made it clear, however, that he has no intention of promoting cryptocurrencies — any cryptocurrencies. The most he would do, however, he added, would be to do so “in jest.” He also said that if anyone sees a video of him promoting cryptocurrencies, that is a deepfake.

Some prominent accounts in the Dogecoin army may have taken this statement as a “joke advertisement” for DOGE, as they started posting this quote from Musk, along with memes, where parts of the animated film “The Lion King” were used.

DOGE is the only cryptocurrency truly backed by Musk

The Tesla CEO remains a big fan of Dogecoin, as is evident from this podcast, despite the fact that he hasn't posted anything about it on X recently. However, Tesla and SpaceX are still accepting DOGE in their online stores for their products, and Musk still plans to launch the DOGE-1 lunar mission.

In recent years, when Musk tweeted about the dog coin much more frequently, his tweets managed to push up the price of DOGE. But later, his power to influence the coin’s price weakened greatly. As U.Today reported, last week, Elon Musk’s X platform removed hashmojis for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, and they are no longer displayed when a crypto hashtag is added.
