DETROIT— general motors On Monday it reported a 5.5% increase in its annual U.S. sales in 2025, despite a 6.9% decline during the fourth quarter.
The Detroit automaker's sales results were boosted last year by incremental sales of electric vehicles, as well as gains in large SUVs and entry-level vehicles like the Buick Envista.
GM's sales in 2025 are expected to be among the strongest in the American auto industry, which Cox Automotive expects to have increased about 2% compared to 2024.
Other American automakers also reported sales in 2025. ToyotaEngineSales increased 8%; Hyundai achieved a third consecutive year of record sales with an increase of 8.4% and HondaEngine rose 0.5%.
chrysler's father stellantis fell 3.3% while executing a recovery plan in the United States. Notably, Stellantis' Jeep brand, which rose less than 1% last year, achieved its first annual sales increase in the United States since 2018.
“With consecutive quarterly increases in sales and market share growth, it is clear that we are taking the right steps to reestablish our business in the U.S.,” Jeff Kommor, head of U.S. retail sales for Stellantis, said in a statement. “There is still work to do, but this year we made progress with a diversified range of powertrains.”
