English football club acquires $4.5 million worth of Bitcoin (BTC) by U.Today

U.Today – Real Bedford FC, a non-professional football club from the United Kingdom, has caught everyone's attention by purchasing another $4.5 million worth of BTC. Peter McCormack, the founder of the club and a well-known cryptocurrency podcaster, announced the acquisition of 66.9 BTC for $4,500,420.69, with each Bitcoin priced at approximately $67,220.

Real Bedford FC, which is backed by Winklevoss Capital and co-owned by McCormack, has big ambitions. Since McCormack took over the club in 2021, his goal has been to propel Bedford FC into the English Football League and eventually the Premier League. This vision led to the recent name change to Real Bedford FC and the adoption of Bitcoin earlier this year.

As of today, the club has 82.7 BTC in its treasury, purchased at an average price of around $64,925 per bitcoin. However, not all of it is untouchable, as 15.8 BTC was set aside for football-related expenses.

The crypto world took note of this strategic investment. MicroStrategy’s Michael Saylor gave his approval with a “Real ₿edford” comment, while Bitwise’s Hunter Horsley called McCormack a “legend.”

With the value of Bitcoin increasing, especially in the last two weeks, Real Bedford FC’s approach sets them apart as visionaries in the world of football. The funds from this investment will be used to improve facilities and support community development initiatives, ensuring the growth and sustainability of the club.
