There has been a change in what California moves.
The electric vehicle load ports now exceed the gas nozzles in the entire gold state, a sign of the growing number of zero emission vehicles on the road. But the milestone comes as the federal government has moved to shave the change of cars with gasoline.
California has constantly accumulated its EV load network with public and private charge ports in recent years. In 2024, California has 178,500 Total EV ports compared to around 120,000 estimated gas nozzles, according to the California Energy Commission.
The number of chargers accessible in California has almost doubled since 2022. Only since August, the last time these figures were publicly updated, the State has registered approximately 26,000 EV loaders of additional public access.
The Commission estimates that more than 162,000 loaders are level 2, which can provide approximately 14 to 35 miles of rank per hour of load, and almost 17,000 are considered rapid loaders, which judge a vehicle in minutes. However, many hybrid vehicles are not equipped to work with fast loaders.
According to state estimates, more than 700,000 level 2 loaders are installed throughout the state in single -family houses.
All this expansion is being carried out when California aims to prohibit the sale of vehicles with gasoline in the state by 2035, although these plans have been criticized by the Trump administration and the Republicans of the Congress.
“The experience of the EV driver of California is improving every day,” said the president of the CEC, David Hochschild, in a statement. “The State will continue to invest strongly in the EV infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on areas difficult to reach, which makes these vehicles an easy option for new cars buyers.”
Part of the dramatic increase in the state account is due to new data sources that track the operational loaders, although there has also been a great increase in the new loaders installed, the agency said. Approximately 73,500 loaders joined the State data in 2024, but only approximately 38,000 of them were newly installed loaders.
At the national level, the EV market now has to get tangled up with an important obstacle: the White House. The Trump administration has indicated a fierce opposition and took measures to reverse the policies promulgated by former President Biden who intended to strengthen the EV market and eliminate vehicles with gasoline, including the objective that the EVs make up half of the new cars sold in the United States by 2030.
The Federal Government has stopped a subsidy of $ 15 million to expand the Ev Oregon load network, according to the Portland Business Journal, and the Miami Herald reports a similar pattern for Florida's plans to build more EV load ports.
In August, the United States Department of Transportation granted 29 states, eight tribes recognized by the Federal Government and the Columbia District $ 521 million to expand the Nation EV load network. California received almost $ 150 million for the construction of more than 9,200 EV collection ports, with $ 15 million destined to build them in unattended communities in Los Angeles County.
Throughout the country and Puerto Rico, there are more than 77,300 EV Load stations and approximately 216,400 public ports, according to the latest federal data of the Joint Energy and Transportation Office.
