Royal Mail to discard the publication of the Saturday of Second Class

Great change for Royal Mail, since they have been given green light to discard the deliveries of the Saturday of second class.

The reason given by the regulator is to guarantee the survival of the regular delivery service, with the number of letters sent in half in the last 14 years.

As of July 28, Royal Mail will deliver a second -class publication on alternative working days, but not Saturdays.

It should allow savings of up to £ 400 million so that Royal Mail reinvesting in other delivery services.

Natalie Black, director of the ofcom group for networks and communications, said:

“These changes are the best for consumers and companies, since the urgent reform of the postal service is necessary to give it the best survival opportunity.

“But changing the obligations of Royal Mail only will not guarantee a better service: the company now has to play its role and implement this effectively. We will make sure that Royal Mail is clear with its clients about what is happening and the benefits of these changes happen.”
