An exit from Stagecoach bus drivers will be suspended in western Scotland after the company made a new salary offer, a union said.
The strike action of the 430 drivers of Stagecoach West Scotland has been continuous since June 9, and had been scheduled to last until July 21.
It affected the operations of several deposits on the service routes of Ayr, Arran, Ardrossan and Kilmarnock in Ayrshire, Lanarkshire and Glasgow.
The greeting followed the rejection of what the Unite union described as the salary offer of 4% “unacceptable” of the company to the staff.
On Tuesday, the union announced that the company had made a new salary offer, and that the strike action will be suspended from 3 pm on Wednesday, while the offer is subjected to a vote of all members.
The voting process is expected to take until Friday to complete.
Siobhan McCready, an industrial official of Unite, said: “Unite members at Stagecoach West Scotland have fought hard to obtain an improved salary offer on the table.
“The strike action has now been suspended as an act of good faith, while the members are fenced in the new offer.”
Stagecoach West Scotland has been contacted to comment.
