British Steel is hiring again for the first time since he was rescued by the government.
The company is looking to occupy more than 180 positions as it prepares to increase production. Having ensured the raw materials necessary to maintain operations in its scunthorpe place, British Steel plans a significant impulse for its production of iron and steel in the coming months.
The available roles cover a wide range of skills and experience levels, from professional and qualified positions to unqualified labor.
There are opportunities available in multiple locations, including Scunthorpe, Teesside and Skinningrove. Departments with open positions include engineering, environmental, chemistry, cleaning, legal, labor, security and shops.
The interim executive director, Allan Bell, said: “With the support of the United Kingdom government, we are focused on consolidating British steel as one of the world's main steel manufacturers.
“To help achieve this and meet customer demand, we will increase production in all our sites and recruit more than 180 people to help us boost.
“These are exciting opportunities throughout our business, which offer rewarding careers that will play an important role in the construction of strongest futures for our business and the United Kingdom economy.”
Most of the new works are in Scunthorpe.
The interim commercial director, Lisa Coulson, said: “Our employees have always been and will always be our greatest asset: they are the people who make British steel such an incredible place to work.
“Together we have a brilliant future, so apply now and join our team.”
Tuc general secretary Paul Nowak said: “This is great news for the broader workers and communities of Scunthorpe, Teesside and Skinningrove.
“It shows the value of using the government's power to protect the United Kingdom industry and help it prosper.
“Now we need an industrial strategy with plans to protect and create jobs in sectors such as energy, vehicles, chemical and ceramic products.”
The National Secretary of the Community Union for Steel, Alun Davies, said: “According to the previous property of the site, we regularly highlight that it was necessary to recruit to keep up with the workload and reduce dependence on the overtime.
“This did not happen for too long.
“It is good to see that the United Kingdom government and the United Kingdom management team are taking quick measures to address this by recruiting a new staff throughout the business.”
British Steel will organize an open recruitment day on Saturday, May 17.
The new job announcement occurs after the ministers used emergency powers to take control of British steel and continue production on the site after what was believed to be a plot to sabotage the Scunthorpe plant by its Chinese owners Jingye.
Jingye previously proposed to close the two SCUNCHORPE blast and put up to 2,700 jobs at risk of a 3,500 workforce. Since government intervention, British Steel has been able to ensure a stable supply of raw materials to its two underpants, Queen Ana and Queen Bess, as well as save jobs at risk.
