A milestone in decentralized oracles by Chainwire

Washington DC, United States, August 13, 2024, Chainwire

Tellor, a leading decentralized oracle protocol, is pleased to announce the launch of the Antietam Testnet. This is the initial public testnet deployment for its upcoming layer-1 blockchain, Tellor Layer, built with the Cosmos SDK and represents a major advancement in decentralized data consensus.

Introducing Tellor Layer

Tellor Layer is an innovative blockchain solution designed to achieve consensus on subjective data across a network of economically incentivized stakeholders. As a layer-1 blockchain, Tellor Layer allows users to request and validate a wide range of data, relying on a decentralized network of validators to maintain chain integrity and security. To learn more about Tellor Layer’s technical underpinnings, the team invites users to review their new whitepaper.

About the public testnet: Antietam Testnet

The launch of the public testnet, codenamed Antietam Testnet, represents a critical phase in the development of the Tellor Layer. This initial iteration focuses on testing the network’s core functionalities, including node participation, validation processes, and data reporting mechanisms. Antietam Testnet will undergo at least two iterations, each designed to stress-test the network and refine its processes in preparation for the mainnet launch.

How to participate in the public test network

The primary goal of the Antietam Testnet is to engage the public in testing the core functionalities of the Tellor Layer. Participants are encouraged to set up nodes, participate as validators, report data, and connect test TRB tokens to and from the Tellor Layer.

A detailed guide has been provided to help participants set up their Tellor Layer nodes, join the network, participate as validators, and begin the reporting process. This guide assumes a basic understanding of the Cosmos SDK and a level of comfort with running experimental code through the command-line interface. Please note that Oracle data reporting is not yet available for public testing.

Tellor Installation Guide

To join the Tellor Layer public testnet, users can follow the setup guide available in the Antietam Testnet documentation. The team encourages all participants to thoroughly review the guide before getting started to ensure a smooth setup experience. User feedback and participation is crucial as Tellor continues to move towards mainnet launch.

Join the community

For additional support or to interact with the Tellor team, users are invited to join their Discord community and participate in the “test layer” channel, where the team is available to help with any questions or challenges.

About Tellor

Tellor is a decentralized oracle network that enables smart contracts on and other blockchains to securely interact with off-chain data. Through its innovative design, Tellor brings the power of decentralized consensus to the world of data validation and reporting.
